Lets make it a little interesting here. We have a situation from a game some years ago, that’s in the clip down below. There are several things that could be called if you look closely. The refs chose a no call. So there are different option in the play. What would, according to you, be the best call in this situation and why?? Once gain: we’re not looking to give the refs in the clip a hard time. This community is about helping each other become better refs. After all: you might end up with somebody from the community one day, and it would be nice if you already have helped each other become better refs right? If you’re playing the clip with sound you might hear a familiar voice. Thats true. Yours truly was the host on this livestream.

We have to be honest with you guys. We were checking some old game tapes and sometimes were surprised about our own traveling calls. So here’s another travel-yes-or-no-clip. It’s not us in the clip! But let’s throw in a little disclaimer: we’re not posting clips to have the refs in the clip ‘walking the green mile’. The idea of the clips is to help us all getting better at recognizing situations. Because the stuff we’re putting up, might just happen in your next game. Or the game after that. Kinda nice if you already have seen that situation before ain’t it?

Where to continue play?
In the clip down below we see people starting to roll on the floor trying to regain control of the ball. As you can see it’s quite the task 🙂
The referee on the baseline calls for a jumpball. Question today is : where do we continue play??? And how many seconds on the clock? On the sideline or on the baseline??
Not the most difficult question? Perhaps, but it will be done incorrectly next season more times than we in our community dare imagining.

Travel yes or no?
If we as referees fail to cover our violations, we often -more than we think- end up calling a defensive foul for the player that got beaten by the violation. A nice example seems to be arising in this clip. White #11 gets the ball on the wing, and then gets to the hoop, only to be sent to the freethrowline. Question for you as our well respected followers: ‘Is the dribble start legal yes or no?’

Last crewchief again
There’s another nomination as crewchief for Dutch FIBA referee Tijmen Last. Today at 18.00 he will administer the tipoff for the clash between Romania and Latvia. His colleagues will be Ievgeni Nagornyi from Ukraine and Martin Horozov from Belgium.

Uhrin crewchief
Slovakian referee Eduard Uhrin has been appointed for the match in Romania today between Georgia and Bulgaria. The new FIBA referee is the crewchief for the game in a team that features Belgium Martin van Hoye and Portugals Joana Pessoa.

Hoxha and Marziali in bronze medal game Boysu18
The U18 men have their final day in division C too today. For the bronze medal game between Luxemburg and Azerbaijan our new community member Gilbert Hoxha (Albania)has been nominated together with Silvia Marziali (Italy) and Milosav Kaludjerovic from Montenegro. Torok nominated for bronze medal game
Our very own Daniella Torok has been nominated for the 3th place game in the U18 women division C event today. In Andorra the home team will face Albania that yesterday just narrowly missed out on beating title favorite Georgia.
She will team up with James Dominique from Gibraltar while Jelena Smiljanic will perform the tipoff.

Shalamberidze crewchief!
Our favorite referee from Georgia, Make Shalamberidze has been nominated for the first time as a crewchief in a FIBA game. She will administer tipoff for the game between Gibraltar and Moldova at the u18 division C championship. It’s the clasificationgame for 5th place in the event. Shalamberidze will team up with Antonio Zamora from Andorra and Jurgen Muho from Albania.
