Chances for ambitious lady referees!

MIES (Switzerland) – The third cycle of FIBA Game Officials Licensing gets underway this month with a special emphasis on the promotion of female referees.

There is also a new timeline for candidates to register for the 2021-23 cycle.

The registration period begins October 15, 2020, and runs until March 31, 2021, and it is during this time when candidates must be registered, tested and ultimately verified. The list of approved FIBA Game Officials will be announced by mid-June 2021 and the Licensed Period 2021-23 will commence on September 1, 2021.

The commitment to female referees is being made as part of the Women in Basketball strategic objective. FIBA has allocated dedicated License allocations for female referees to each eligible National Federation. Lees “Chances for ambitious lady referees!” verder

For the sixth time in a row the International Eastercup in Moabit Berlin will host a refereeclinic and just like in previous years Bob Bhania wil highlight the staff. End of another era: Antio calls it a career

Breaking news on Facebook today! Antio Sinterniklaas, one of Hollands most decorated refs of the last years, announced his immediate retirement in a post on his private wall. Eight referees announced for 2019 Final Four – Euroleague Basketball has chosen eight of its best referees from the 2018-19 season to oversee the games of the 2019 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. The list of nominees is a mix of youth and experience. Two referees are set to officiate in their first Final Four, while four others have worked more than a dozen previous championship games between them. Lamonica to Lithuanian cupfinal!

Most people still consider Luigi Lamonica the best referee in Europe. It’s a pity he had to step down in Italian ligue, but it opens great possibilities for other countries!
